A new rule out of the EPA reportedly limits the scope of federal jurisdiction over Missouri waterways.

An editorial column out of MIssouri Farm Bureau Public Affairs Office, claims the rule should come as welcome news to farmers. The current EPA says the new rule gives way to state governance of waterways. Under the WOTUS rule, from a previous administration, an analysis conducted by Farm Bureau concluded over 99% of Missouri lands could have fallen under federal jurisdiction. The new rule removes ambiguity that could have led to federal control.

Citizens will have the opportunity to comment on the new rule for 60 days after it is published in the federal register.
