CENTERVIEW, Mo. –Breanna Wonderly, a Crest Ridge High School graduate, just completed a very successful career at the University of Illinois.  Wonderly wrapped up her college softball career in the NCAA Softball Regionals on May 20th.  KMZU talked to Wonderly about her career.

Wonderly was one of four seniors on the 2017 Fighting Illini softball team. She finished her senior season with a 21-16 record and a 2.63 ERA in 239 and two thirds innings pitched.  She was strongest in Big Ten conference play, where she lead the league in innings pitched with 113, was second in strikeouts and third in wins.  She was a First Team Big Ten selection in 2017.

The Centerview, MO. native pitched 58% of the Illini’s overall innings and 78% of their innings in the Big Ten conference.  That included throwing just the 12th no-hitter in program history, that coming against Iowa on March 24 of this year.  She also received All Region honors as well, after the season.

In 2016, her junior season, she was 16-13 with a 2.85 ERA in 32 starts.

Wonderly graduated from the University of Illinois in May and will return to the University of Illinois next school year to be a graduate assistant in the softball program.  She plans to use her training next year as a stepping stone to becoming a pitching coach. She is currently playing professional softball for a team in Chicago.
