Governor Jay Nixon will visit Winston High School in Davies County Thursday morning to recognize efforts to achieve a state A+ designation.  The program offers free tuition and academic fees at Missouri community colleges to students who complete the requirements, which includes 50 hours of tutoring or mentorng.  He will make an appearance at ten.

Gov. Jay Nixon will visit Winston R-VI High School in Daviess County and the Union Star R-II School in DeKalb County on Thursday (Aug. 23) to recognize both schools for their efforts to achieve the state’s A+ Schools designation by the end of this school year. The Governor also will encourage students at the schools to take advantage of the program, which offers two years free tuition and academic fees at Missouri’s community colleges. To be eligible for the program, students must meet academic achievement, conduct and attendance requirements, and perform 50 hours of tutoring or mentoring service.

The Governor will tour classrooms at the schools on both stops.
