The Excelsior Springs School District put to bed any rumors about an audit over their soon to be launched Tiger Path alternative school. Click to hear KMZU’s Brian Lock talk with Excelsior Springs Superintendent Dr. John Lacy:
“Tiger Path is an alternative school we are going to start in January,” said Lacy. “We wanted a location outside of district facilities, so we looked to the community for the best location for the district. The building that was chosen also happened to belong to a board member, and the sate auditor got interested in it because it belonged to a board member.”
Lacy said that there was never an audit of the program itself, just an inquiry by the State Auditor about locating the program on a property owned by a member of the Excelsior Springs Board of Education.
“The board voted 4-2 to not approve the lease agreement, and therefore that particular facility will not be considered as a permanent location for the Tiger Path Program.”
Dr. Lacy says the board is actively searching for a permanent location for the Tiger Path Program, which will launch in January of 2014.
