OATS Transportation in the Northwest Region will see a change starting next week.  Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Northwest Regional Director Beth Langley:

Beth Langley

This is the first time in 42 years the northwest region has charged a fare.  It is necessary because they lost one of their major funding sources.

“This is not the direction that OATS planned to go, but it is the direction that we have to go to remain a viable entity in society.  And as our fares are being implemented, I know that people across northwest Missouri understand the need for this, so that the business maintains its viability for folks,” said Langley, “I hope  it does not become a burden for anyone.”

Cost for an in-town trip is $1, it is $3 to travel outside city limits, and travel between counties costs $4.  More information can be found at oatstransit.org.
