Sylvia Gurene Nichelson Ross, age 31, of Carrollton, Missouri, suddenly and sadly passed away at 2:11 a.m. on January 24, 2023, in rural Carrollton, Missouri.
Sylvia was born on November 14, 1991, in Chillicothe, Missouri, to parents Marvin Lynn and Stella Irene (Dollins) Nichelson. She attended school in Carrollton, Missouri.
Sylvia was united in marriage to Jordan Ross on July 12, 2021, in Carrollton, Missouri.
Sylvia was a free spirit that loved everything about the arts. There wasn't a time when she didn't have music playing or singing along to the radio, but she truly enjoyed learning how to play the guitar. She always took pictures and loved catching her siblings with awkward expressions on their faces and posting them on their social walls. Sylvia had a gift for seeing things broken or unloved and refurbishing them to their original beauty or upcycling them into a new creation. She had a big heart with so much love for everyone and would help anyone deserving.
She had to bear the unimaginable heartache of losing her son, two nieces, and a nephew to a horrific housefire on May 2, 2015.
There is peace knowing she is now with Saylem, Anna, Rolanda, and Mason, even though her family and friends will unimaginably miss her.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Jordan Ross; her father, Marvin Nichelson; maternal grandmother, Gurene Dollins; her son Alex McDowell; siblings, Charity Lester, James (Jaime) Zamarripa, Jamie Hughes, Jessica Williams, Tarra Hewitt, and Josh Kogut; uncles, James "Bobby" Dollins, Steve Dollins, and Fred Nichelson; aunts, Emily Cazzell and Paula Nichelson; nieces and nephews, Matthew, Marley, Jackson, Braxton, Ezra, Aubrey, and Gabriel; many cousins that include, Billy Dollins and Brandy Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Stella Nichelson; maternal grandfather, James Dollins; paternal grandparents, Theodore and Sylvia Nichelson; an aunt Connie Casdorph; and sadly, the loss of her son, Saylem Martinson, and her nieces, Rossanna Florez, Rolanda Saldana, and nephew Mason Dollins.
