A Public Hearing was held before Monday night’s Board of Aldermen meeting in Odessa. The purpose of the meeting was to go over data required to apply for a Community Development Block Grant. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Grant Writer Freddie Wells:
The Board went over their needs assessment to determine what’s important for the city. “Before the state hands out money to communities, they really want those communities to think about what they have and what they do need, just in case what we’re asking for is not the most critical thing,” said Wells.

Some concerns were addressed about the roadwork that is currently going on around town. “I know a lot of people are kind of questioning, ‘Why are we doing the good streets?’ and we want to maintain those streets and do work on them that will make them last for the longest time possible,” said Holmes.
