The Odessa School Board is scheduled to meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. Click to hear KMZU’s Chelsea Pounds speak with Superintendent Robert Brinkley.
Brinkley said next year’s budget will be the highlight of the meeting. “We are anticipating receiving about 93% of what we’re supposed to this year. This is not the first year for that and it has gotten a little bit better.” He added, “As a result, school districts have had to make cuts, and we’ve had to do the same thing.”
Brinkley said he didn’t foresee the district having to make cuts in the coming year. “We’re not anticipating any cuts at this point, depending on what happens at the state level. That always has a great impact on what goes on at the local level. When you’re dealing with state government and budgets, you never really know how everything is going to work out.”
The board will also evaluate several programs including the library media center and the A+ Program.
