CARROLL COUNTY, Mo.- The investigation by the Carroll County Prosecutor continues into the police involved shooting of David Blair, 69, of Carrollton, Mo.

On the night of Saturday, August 27, 2016, in the 300 block of E. 3rd St., Blair was allegedly involved in an altercation with Sgt. Christopher Looney of the Carrollton Police Department.

Police responded to the residence to reportedly serve a citation for a dog running loose. At that point Blair allegedly pulled a firearm and was told repeatedly by officers to drop the weapon. Officer Looney fired several shots and Blair was struck multiple times, including in the head. He remains hospitalized and is recovering.

The Mo. State Highway Patrol took over the investigation shortly after the incident and on September 14, turned their findings over to Carroll County Prosecuting Attorney Cassandra Brown. Less than a week before those materials were handed over to the prosecutor’s office Sgt. Looney was reinstated per protocols set forth by the Carrollton Police Department.

KMZU news has contacted Brown’s office multiple times over the past week and a half with no comments given.

KMZU news went to Prosecutor Brown’s office Thursday morning, September 22, and a representative with the prosecutor’s office said that Brown would not meet with the media because the investigation is still ongoing. The representative went on to inform KMZU that the office’ s protocol states no comments will be made during an investigation.

KMZU news will continue to check with Prosecutor Brown’s Office until charges are either filed or the case is dismissed.
