For the past few weeks, residents of the Odessa area have dealt with road construction on Old Highway 40 as crews repaired a bridge over the Kansas City Southern Railroad.
The road was closed down for the deck replacement. That work was completed once crews finished installation of new rails along the side of the bridge, and tying down the approaches properly at the tracks.
Detour signs were not readily available when construction began in June because MoDOT is not allowed to detour traffic in a municipality. The city was quick to address the problem by the end of last month.
