The Old Trails Regional Tourism Department is hosting their 4th annual Great Region Economic Summit Wednesday, May 20th at the Carrollton Rupe Center.

This event is focused on effective leadership techniques to improve economic trends and opportunities between a 9 county area of northern Missouri, through encouraged collaboration of said counties. Executive Director, Marsha Corbin, said this is a great way for community members to pick each other’s minds and learn new ways of conducting their businesses.

During the summit, keynote speaker and Executive VP at Renewable Energy Group, Nile Ramsbottom, will talk about the pressing issues that rural Missouri businesses are facing. Corbin says, “He’s written a book entitled ‘Prepare for Leadership’ and he’s going to be speaking toward leadership in our local communities and what we can do to work together to improve our economic situation.”

Corbin encourages everyone to attend the event. She stated that many community leaders, elected officials, county commissioners, local government representatives, and members of the business community will be in attendance.

Reservations are not required however they are encouraged. There is $30 fee to attend. That fee covers a breakfast buffet as well as a copy of Ramsbottoms’ book. Those interested are asked to contact the Old Trails office at 660-259-2230 or by e-mail at [email protected] by Tuesday, May 19th.
