KANSAS CITY, Mo—A man is dead after leading police on a 15 mile chase which spilled into Kansas City.
Reports indicate around 11:30 Thursday night, an officer initiated sirens in an effort to pull over a car he believed to be stolen. The pursuit began then, when the driver refused to stop.
Police say at some points during the chase, the suspects was traveling at more than 100 miles per hour.
After crossing into Kansas City, KCPD joined in the chase and threw out stop sticks, eventually leading to the end of the pursuit several blocks later at 99th Terrace and Blue Ridge Boulevard.
Officers indicate when the chase ended; the suspect exited the vehicle and refused to listen to commands before pulling a gun. An Independence officer shot and killed the suspect driver.
The name of the suspect has not yet been released.
