One person is dead and several others suffered injuries as the result of an apartment fire early Friday morning in Macon.  The Macon Fire Department reports they arrived on the scene just before 2:00 a.m. to the scene in the 700 block of Rubey Street.  The six-unit building suffered extensive damage.  The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Division of Fire Safety, along with the Macon Fire Department and Police Department.  The names of the victims have not been released at this time.
