The gates officially open this morning at the 2014 Missouri State Fair. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross speak with Marketing Director Tammie Nichols:
Things kick off on Thursday with a full schedule of events. “We’ve got opening day ceremonies starting at 10:00 in front of the Family Fun Center,” said Nichols, “This year, we are really focusing on kids and the youth involved at the fair, so we thought the perfect way to kick off the fair would be at the family fun center. So, that’s the first thing going on this morning. And then we have the opening day parade at 6:00. That’s always a popular event with more than 100 units again. Scotty McCreery will perform at the Grandstand at 7:30.”
In addition to all the activity, it’s also two buck bonanza day. “Everybody gets in for $2, ages 6 and up,” said Nichols, “Every day at the fair, kids 5 and under are free. There will be $2 specials all day including corn dogs, sodas, and even some specials inside the vendor buildings. We have a list of those concession specials at our information booth. Just lots of great deals for opening day.”
