(UPDATE: 02/06/17)-  Two Oregon residents were sentenced in Lafayette County after being charged with felony drug trafficking.

According to online court records, David J. Mortan, 46, of Grants Pass, Ore., and  Susan M. West, 58, of Azalea, Ore., were each sentenced for one count of drug trafficking in the first degree. West was sentenced to 120 days of shock incarceration . Mortan was charged to 13 years of incarceration.

(UPDATE: 12/20/16 9:16 p.m.)- David J. Mortan, 46, of Grants Pass, Oregon, appeared in Lafayette County Court yesterday on charges of drug trafficking relating to an incident earlier this year.

Mortan withdraws plea of not guilty and enters a plea of guilty as charged. The Court, having found a factual basis for the plea, accepted Mortan’s  plea as being voluntarily and intelligently entered and finds defendant guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. 

A sentencing hearing for Mortan has been scheduled for February 21, 2016 at 3:00 p.m., at the Lafayette County Courthouse.

David J. Mortan, 46, of Grants Pass, Ore., and  Susan M. West, 58, of Azalea, Ore., were each charged with one count of drug trafficking in the first degree. According to a probable cause statement a K9 unit was brought in to search their vehicle after a traffic stop in Lafayette County.

During the search six large duffel bags, containing approximately 150 pounds of marijuana, were located.

A plea or trial setting for Mortan is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Monday, December 19th at the Lafayette County Courthouse. West will appear in court Monday, December 19th at 3:00 p.m. in the Lafayette County Courthouse for a sentencing hearing.
