PLATTE CITY, Mo. — An accident in Platte City overnight sent a Saint Joseph woman to the hospital.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the one vehicle crash occurred as 20-year-old Kayla Keith was northbound on I-29 at the I-636 junction just after 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Troopers say Keith’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, over-corrected, then traveling off the left side of the road into the southbound lanes of traffic. The vehicle then struck a guardrail in the southbound lanes of I-29 and came to rest.
Keith had minor injuries and was transported to North Kansas City Hospital for treatment. Her passengers, 19-year-old Riah Cook, of St. Joseph, and 20-year-old Janea Macierowski, of Atchison, Kansas, both were injured but refused treatment.
Keith has since been charged with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol.
The crash was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Riverside Police.
