JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri Governor Mike Parson indicated in his state of the state speech, two northwestern Missouri prisons could be combined to ensure efficiency and security.

Inmates a Crossroads Correctional center in Cameron would be transferred to Western Missouri Correctional, according to a plan delivered in Parson’s speech. Western would also convert to a maximum security facility. Missouri Department of Corrections is facing a shortage in available staff, which led to recent riots at Crossroads by inmates, and a lockdown. Staff from the Chillicothe Correctional Center are currently filling staff shortages at Crossroads.

Parson said, the move could be made with no layoffs, and a pay raise.
