MONROE COUNTY, Mo. – A Moberly woman was injured when the vehicle she was riding in, hit a deer in Monroe County Friday night.

According to deerthe Missouri Highway Patrol crash report, Barbara Smith, 47, of Moberly was driving a westbound vehicle on Highway 24, just East of Paris Missouri, when she unsuccessfully attempted to avoid a deer in the roadway. A passenger in the vehicle, Destiny Newberry, 16, of Moberly sustained moderate injuries during the impact.

Newberry was transported to Moberly Regional Medical Center for treatment.
