BOONE COUNTY, Mo. — A Highway Patrol State Trooper was involved in a traffic incident Thursday morning in Columbia.
According to the Highway Patrol, Trooper Grant A. Ayers, 31, of Jefferson City, was traveling east on Route AC with the emergency lights activated on his vehicle at about 5:52 a.m. Thursday.
A second car operated by 30-year-old Columbia resident Muhammad Usman was driving north on State Farm Parkway approaching the Intersection of Route AC. His car began to move through the intersection, which had a green signal, as Ayers slowed and entered the intersection with a red signal light. Both vehicles continued through the crossroads and Trooper Ayers attempted to avoid Usman’s oncoming automobile by veering to the left.
The patrol car then reportedly struck the front driver side of Usman’s car. Both vehicles sustained moderate inuuries, according to the accident report.
Ayres was uninjured however Usman received minor injuries in the collision, which he told authorities he would seek treatment for on his own accord.
