Burial is at Wharton Cemetery in Bosworth. The family will receive friends at Penny’s home after the graveside service.
Penny was born October 10, 1958, to Ralph and Shirley (Stotlar) Parker in Carrollton, Missouri. She grew up on the Parker farm in Bosworth, Missouri just north of town.
She was a proud Bosworth alumnus, never missing the yearly alumni dinner and often encouraging old friends to attend. In August 2018 she retired as the Operations Supervisor of Missouri American Water’s Brunswick office after 31 years of service. She had been a member of the Brunswick City Council and was active in Brunswick’s revitalization efforts. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 15 years and was a lifetime member of the American Paint Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association.
When Penny entered a room, her smile and presence would brighten everyone’s day. She made friends everywhere she went and treated them with the same respect and love she had for her own family. Penny enjoyed living in the country where it was quiet and peaceful, she didn’t even have cable television. When her grandchildren came to visit she would rent them movies on Amazon! She enjoyed camping, riding horses, and traveling- especially to the beach. However, her most cherished times were spent with her family and friends, especially her beloved children and grandchildren. Penny was very involved with her family, so much so, that she never missed a sporting event or anything they were involved in. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Penny is survived by her parents, Ralph and Shirley Parker of Bosworth, Missouri; two children, Jess Wooden and wife Kristy of Carrollton, Missouri, and Kim Perez and husband Rod of Sedalia, Missouri; five grandchildren, Breanna Wooden, Austin Perez, Rylan Wooden, Sophia Perez, and Camden Wooden; one sister Pam Weber and husband Paul; two nephews, Ron Elliott, and David Elliott and wife Mandy; great-nephews, and nieces, Curtis Huffman, Logan Elliott, Jenasyn Elliott, Ethan Elliott, and Calla Elliott.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Austin, and Tillie Parker.
With Penny’s love for horses, it seemed only appropriate that the journey to her final, earthly resting place was by way of a horse-drawn hearse. She will be laid to rest at Wharton Cemetery in Bosworth, Missouri. After the graveside, the family will receive friends at Penny’s home.
For those who would like to make a memorial contribution, the family respectfully requests they be made in memory of Penny Parker, in care of the County Bank of Brunswick. They may be left or mailed to Bittiker Funeral Home, P.O. Box 223, Carrollton, Missouri 64633.
