Pershing Memorial Hospital is undergoing a massive overhaul of its record keeping system. Click to hear KMZU’s Bob Allen talk with Pershing Memorial Hospital Director of Information Technology and EMR Project Manager Scott Tomlinson:
Tomlinson says they hired a company from North Carolina to help them convert all of their paper records over to digital format. Tomlinson ultimately sees the switch as a way to help people manage their own health care through an online patient portal. He also believes it will make it easier for patrons to take their records with them if they needed to visit an out of town facility like the Mayo Clinic as they could take a CD instead of an 8-10″ file folder of information.
