Several Pettis County hunters have freed a pair of white-tailed deer whose antlers had become locked together in the Hughesville area. The deer had been spotted on a farm about 12 miles north of Sedalia last week after apparently becoming entangled during a fight.

The Missouri Department of Conservation says a deer hunting party armed with ropes and a battery-powered saw began tracking the deer with the hopes of helping the 8- and 10- point bucks. The group was able to successfully separate the animals and allowed them to return to the wild.
