According to a polling question on the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office website, just over one-third of those polled were able to identify the true purpose of Missouri Law Enforcement.

A majority of those polled believed the primary duty of law enforcement was to protect and serve the people.  While that is definitely a function of law enforcement, the primary task, according to LCSO, is to uphold the Constitution for all.  The Sheriff’s office says, “…when that is the top priority, all other work and requirements…fall into place.”  Other choices in the poll included serving warrants, and investigating crimes.
