NORTHWEST MISSOURI — Carroll County Commissioner Stan Falke reports that residents of Waverly and southern Carroll County should begin preparations for possible flood conditions as the Missouri River at Waverly’s water levels continue to rise.
“We have confirmed reports from the National Weather Service that the crest will be a little below 30 ft., and that crest will occur sometime after midnight tonight (Saturday),” Falke said. “We are also hearing unconfirmed reports that the (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) has projected that the crest will be much higher than that, as high as 31 ft.”
While these are only predictions, flooding could impact residents within miles of the river, along with numerous roadways including 65 Highway and 10 Highway.
Falke reminds motorists and inhabitants alike to be safe and use caution.
“I believe the old-age advice that being prepared is much better than being unprepared,” Falke said.
More updates will be made as information becomes available.
