One of the men arrested and charged with murder told police he killed a Warrensburg man in exchange for money.  Reginald Singletary, 27, said he shot William “Blaine” Whitworth, 25, in his driveway on Saturday at the request of Ziyad Abid, 23, according to a probable cause statement.  Both Singletary and Abid were charged Wednesday afternoon with murder and armed criminal action.  Bond for each was set at $1 million.

Autopsy results show Whitworth died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. The arrests and charges come two days after the Missouri Rural Major Case Squad was activated. The team includes investigators from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, as well as police and sheriff’s deputies from Johnson, Pettis, Henry, Saline and Ray counties. The Case Squad said they have followed up on more than 100 leads.
