SEDALIA, Mo. — The Sedalia City Council will get together Monday evening for a regular council meeting, but not before they meet for pre-council committee meetings.

Members of the public safety, public works and finance/administration committees will discuss business related to their respective committees for about 15 minutes before the regular meeting commences.

Three city employees will be recognized with service awards – Matt Irwin, Sedalia Fire Department Battalion Chief, for 20 years of service; Sergeant Joshua Howell, for 10 years of service and Sedalia Police Department Telecommunications Officer Kathryn Baughman, for 10 years of service to the city.

There are a number of items of business listed on the agenda, including amending an ordinance relating to the penalty for commencing construction without a permit and the anticipated acceptance of a deed for a property purchased in the 400 block of North Missouri Street by the City of Sedalia at public auction.

A number of job descriptions will be amended and clarified as well, including Chief Building Official, Housing Specialist and Code Enforcement Officer.

Council is also slated to delete a section from the City of Sedalia’s Personnel Regulations Manual and replace it with a new section pertaining to voluntary sick leave.

Mayor Galliher is then expected to make nominations for undisclosed positions or honors.

Council will meet at 6:45 p.m. for committee meetings before the regular council session gets under way at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening in the City Council Chambers at the Sedalia Municipal Building.
