MISSOURI — Prescription drugs are a necessity for many Americans.
However, prices can be steep for many life saving drugs and well, even those that aren’t. According to an article written by Robert Langreth of Bloomberg News, even with private insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid 14 percent of prescription costs still fall on the consumer alone and that annually an individual spends $1,200 on prescription drugs.
In late October 2018 the Trump Administration began efforts for a plan to import prescription drugs and in 2019 suggested terminating drugmaker rebates. A system that pays the middleman and allows for heightened drug prices. With all the different ideas and proposed actions, it’s tough to know what would be changed.
