BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (Press Release)- According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, the Prescription Drug Take Back event held in Boone County this past weekend resulted in the collection of 574 pounds of unwanted and/or no longer needed medications.

There were 8 different collection sites spread throughout Boone County over the two day local event which coincided with the DEA’s National Drug Take Back event. The results per collection site are as follows;

VA Hospital – Columbia – 186 lbs.
University Of Mo. Student Center – 36 lbs
Hickman High School – 154 lbs
Rockbridge High School – 87 lbs
Ashland Police Department– 57 lbs
Centralia Police Department – 39 lbs
Sturgeon Police Department – 1 lb
Hallsville Police Department – 14 lbs

Partnering with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department included the Youth Community Coalition, and officers from the Ashland, Centralia, Columbia, Hallsville, Sturgeon, University of Missouri, and Veteran’s Administration Police Departments.

All medications collected will be turned over to the DEA for proper disposal.
