SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A prior sex offender from Springfield was indicted Tuesday, July 21, 2015 for receiving and distributing child prisonpornography.

According to the Justice Department, Gary Thomas Sheldon, 52, of Springfield was charged in a grand jury indictment replacing a criminal complaint that had been filed on July 16, 2015. Tuesday’s indictment alleges Sheldon received and distributed child pornography over the internet from October of 2014 to July of 2015.

Sheldon, a registered sex offender from a 2000 conviction of possession of child pornography, could face a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison without parole
