A pre-emptory docket hearing has been scheduled for a Richmond resident. Michael Scott James Dorton, 21, was charged with assault and armed criminal action after he allegedly struck his mother in the head with a sledge hammer on January 15th.
She was transported to a Kansas City-area hospital for treatment while police issued a state-wide alert for Dorton. He was apprehended two days later in Merriam, Kansas.
Proceedings for Dorton are scheduled for the 8:30 a.m. on February 19th. He remains in custody on a $750,000 cash only bond.
