Discussions on a hiking and biking trail between Warrensburg and Knob Noster continued Tuesday morning. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Johnson County Trails Coalition Chair Bill Gabel:
They discussed how to form a quorum at Tuesday’s meeting. The coalition is working to complete Warrensburg’s side of the trail. Rough estimates put the trail cost at $3.4 million and about seven to eight miles long.

The Johnson County Trails Coalition will have their next meeting at 9:00 a.m., August 21 at the Community Center, 445 E. Gay Street, Warrensburg. The public is invited to attend.
The recently formed group is interested in building a trail from the eastern edge of Warrensburg along Highway DD to Whiteman Air Force Base and is in the process of securing funds.
William Gabel, Presiding County Commissioner, is the lead on this group with members including Sen. David Pearce and representatives from the departments of Transportation and Natural Resources, Warrensburg, Whiteman Air Force Base, the University of Central Missouri, Knob Noster, Centerview, Holden, Kingsville, Leeton and Chilhowee.
