Kansas City, Mo – Protest hostility over the George Floyd murder continues in Kansas City tonight. J C Nichols Memorial Fountain is the epicenter of the protests.

Police said several large violent groups have thrown bottles and rocks, while blocking streets around Country Club Plaza. Police said businesses have been looted and protesters have confronted authorities. One vehicle fire was extinguished around 11 p.m. Saturday.

Several arrests have been made and police are using flash bombs. Several outside agencies have responded including the Missouri Highway Patrol. Police are deploying tear gas. No serious injuries have been reported.

Governor Mike Parson signed an executive order Saturday evening for the National Guard to be deployed if necessary. Country Club Plaza is not expected to open until Monday.
