The Missouri Public Service Commission will be holding a public hearing in Kansas City on April 23rd. The local hearing will address electric rates in the Kansas City area as the Kansas City Power and Light Company recently filed an electric rate case with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking to increase annual electric revenues by approximately $120.9 million. Under the rate request the changes will cost 270,000 individuals in the area approximately $14 dollars a month.
The drivers behind the increase include investments in infrastructure, environmental changes and reliability improvements. The hearing will give the public a chance to voice comments and concerns about the increase. The hearing will be located at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center Auditorium on 3700 Blue Parkway in Kansas City starting at 6:00p.m. Comments for the meeting can be registered at the Commission’s electronic filing system here.
