CARROLLTON, Mo. — Residents of Carroll County are invited to a public hearing over a sales tax increase that could be put to a ballot in the future.
The proposed increase is a separate tax hike from a tax being considered by Carrollton voters on August 8.
According to a release from Carroll County E911, the hearing will happen Monday, August 7 at 6:00 at the Carroll County E911 offices in the basement of the Carrollton Public Library.
The hearing is regarding a sales tax increase of 3/4 of one percent to one percent. The proposed sales tax would collected on any goods consumers buy within Carroll County.
The release indicates that the increase is needed, according to E-911 officials, due to revenue deficits and increased expenditures stemming from capital improvements and inflationary factory.
