CASS COUNTY, MO – A pursuit late Monday night injured a Cass County deputy, according to their Facebook post Tuesday.

The suspect vehicle reportedly sped away from deputies during an attempted traffic stop on S. Prospect near 155th Street. Both vehicles went off the road at a curve on Prospect. The deputy’s vehicle hit a tree, sustaining heavy damage, and caught fire. The unnamed deputy received serious injuries, and was in stable condition at an area hospital.

The suspect, Charles F. Rice of Kansas City was wanted on numerous warrants, including stealing, larceny, and traffic violations. Rice was treated for minor injuries.
