A Warrensburg resident found guilty in June of second-degree murder appeared in court this week. John Ramirez, 33, was sentenced to life in prison for the death of Maxine Ballew, 91. He was also sentenced to seven years for one count of arson. Prosecutors say Ramirez strangled Ballew, stole some of her property, and then set her house on fire in 2009.
