MOBERLY, Mo— An arrest warrant was served earlier this week for charges which were filed after an incident on the 13th of this month.
According to court documents and a release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Derek Samuel Birge, 33, was taken into custody January 19, 2016, for multiple counts.
He has been formally charged with a class C felony charge of assault 2nd degree on law enforcement officer, corrections officer, emergency personnel, highway worker, utility worker or probation and parole officer – acts with criminal negligence – means of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument, a class A felony charge of escape or attempted escape from custody with a deadly weapon, dangerous instrument or by holding hostages, an unclassified felony charge of armed criminal action and a class C felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Birge is still in custody in lieu of a $150,000 bond.
Court proceedings are scheduled to begin with initial arraignment this next Monday, January 25th at 9 a.m. at the Randolph County courthouse.
