ADAIR COUNTY, Mo. — A resident of Kirksville is facing multiple charges, including rape, in Adair County.
According to a probable cause statement filed in an Adair County courtroom, officers were called to a business on North Baltimore Street in Kirksville after receiving reports of a sexual assault.
Upon arrival, the victim told officers that a man identified as Alexis Jimenez Diez, 34, had sexually assaulted her earlier in the day on January 26, 2018.
The victim was forcefully held down by Diaz on West Cottonwood Street in Kirksville. The victim asked Diaz to stop repeatedly, however Diaz did not comply.
The probable cause statement also indicates he proceeded to engage in non-consensual sexual acts. Investigators observed bruises on the victim’s body consistent with the alleged abuse, according to the probable cause statement.
The victim also told officers that Diaz said he had allegedly killed a person in the past. Diaz has a notable history of criminal convictions, including for armed criminal action, assault and aggravated robbery.
Diaz is charged with one felony count of first degree rape or attempted rape as well as sodomy or attempted sodomy in the first degree.
Diaz is currently held at the Adair County Jail on $150,000 bond, cash only. He is slated to go before a judge in an Adair County courtroom for an initial arraignment at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7.
