The Ray County Coalition will host a candidate’s forum and luncheon on Thursday. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross speak with Prevention Specialist with Tri-County Mental Health Laura Bruce:
According to Bruce, the organization has received confirmation of the attendance of several candidates. “We have some for the county positions such as the circuit court clerk and the county clerk,” said Bruce, “That day we plan to hear from the presiding commissioners, the prosecuting attorney candidates, and the state rep and congressional candidates. We have about 12 RSVPs so far.”
The office-seekers will be given the opportunity to address the crowd during the event. “Each of the candidates will be given a question when they arrive,” said Bruce,” So, they won’t have the question until that day. They will be given 3 minutes to respond. All questions will relate to substance abuse and violence prevention issues.”
The event is scheduled from 11:30 to 1:00 on Thursday at the United Christian Presbyterian Church. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP, if possible, at 816-877-0498.
