RICHMOND, Mo.-The defendants in an ongoing child-abuse case out of Ray County are scheduled for hearings on Wednesday. According to court documents, Dennis J. Matthews, 29, recently of Richmond, Mo. was charged with 11 felony counts related to child abuse, which allegedly resulted in the death of a three-week-old infant child. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Rebecca A. Matthews, 28, is charged with fourteen counts of child abuse. Dennis Matthews had been incarcerated in Ray County on a $500,000 bond which was reduced in March of 2015 to $3000 with 10% posting allowed. That bond was posted May 29th, with Judge Baskins recusing herself from the case four days later. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for both defendants on July, 23rd 2015 in Ray County Courts. The most current hearing of the case is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July, 1st. At that hearing, a motion will be made for modification of bond conditions for Rebecca Matthews.
