The American Red Cross is celebrating National Volunteer Month by encouraging eligible donors to give blood this April. The Red Cross needs donation now more than ever, close to one thousand blood drives across the country were cancelled due to poor weather from February to March. Volunteer Donors are the only source of blood for those in need of transfusions. April starts National Volunteer month and the Red Cross is encouraging donors of any blood type, and especially donors with type O-negative, A-negative and B-negative, to give blood.
Hundreds of thousands of volunteers help the Red Cross fulfill its mission every year. Upcoming blood donation opportunities are happening next month in almost twenty different counties across the state of Missouri, mostly at local churches, hospitals and schools. Those who are unable to give blood can support the Red Cross by creating a SleevesUp virtual blood drive here. To make an appointment to give blood, or find a blood donation opportunity near you visit redcrossblood.org, or call 1-800-733-2767 or 1-800-RED-CROSS.
