Property owners hear a presentation on Ray County's Flood Mitigation Plan.

Communities throughout Ray County are receiving updated flood hazard maps as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s nationwide program to modernize the geographical drawings.  Click to hear KMZU’s Chelsea Wade talk with Presiding Commissioner Bob King:

Flood hazard maps, also known as Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRM), indicate whether properties are in areas of high, moderate or low flood risk. If the risk level for a property changes, so may the requirement to carry flood insurance.

The Ray County maps are scheduled to take effect on June 19, 2012.
