CLAY COUNTY, Mo.—A new dual bridge will open in Liberty soon.
A ribbon cutting will take place Monday Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. as Liberty and Kansas City usher in the milestone finishing of a new dual bridge at Route 152 and I-35. The ceremony will take place on the south end of the bridge and those in attendance should park on the west side of the bridge and use existing walkways.
The Missouri Department of Transportation began work on the bridge in March 2019 and though it is finished more work is still to be done in the area. In addition to the bridge MoDOT plans to make improvements to Kansas Street and Route 291, add wider driving lanes, add more turn lanes, and will also make walkways for pedestrians and cyclist more accessible.
The bridge and all subsequent construction is part of the 152 Interchange Project. Completion of the project is expected by the end of Aug. 2020.
