The City of Richmond met in regular session Tuesday. Among the items on the agenda, a plan to implement a chapter 353 tax abatement was proposed in order to help citizens and business owners make improvements to the city.

City Administrator, Ron Brohammer, asked the council if they would approve that measure. A short discussion followed and the motion was approved. Additionally, Brohammer said they are proposing an open house at the waste water plant in May.

“It will be the 23rd of May. It’s the fourth Saturday in May, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.,” Brohammer said.

Another item discussed were proposals for solid waste contractor. Their current contractor expires in July.

“I’ve been asked by a few people to see if we could include a recycle program in that contract,” Brohammer said. “Probably the way we’ll write it is with two proposals. One proposal for the solid waste pick up, and another for solid waste with a recycle pick up.”

The next regularly scheduled city council session is April at 6:30 p.m. at 205 Summit Street in Richmond.
