The Richmond School Board held a lengthy meeting Tuesday night. Click to hear KMZU’s Bob Allen talk with Richmond Superintendent Damon Kizzire:
Kizzire says the board finished up one piece of business that’s been in the works for more than a month. The park board brought a formal proposal for a 5′ wide and 325′ long sidewalk with curbs to be installed on the existing parking lot which the board unanimously approved.
One other major piece of discussion was the audit report for the 2010-2011 school year. That report was positive as it showed the district increased their fund balance from around 5% to more than 14%. Kizzire expresses concern over breaking even in the upcoming year due to decreases in revenue. He also wants to take whatever money is left at the end of the year and give it back to the teachers, who have made the district’s success possible, in the form of a raise, supplies, or additional staff to decrease class size.
The board also addressed the state’s preliminary Annual Performance Report which shows the school earned 14 out of 16 points to be called a school of distinction.
