An Independence man was sentenced to more than twelve years in prison Wednesday. The U.S. Attorney’s Office reports 36 year old Jeremy Bagnell has also been ordered to pay more than five thousand dollars in restitution to Metcalf Bank.
Bagnell pleaded guilty to taking part in a bank robbery in October 2010. He watched the door while 50 year old Michael Smythe of Independence passed a note to a teller demanding money. The pair made off with just over seven thousand dollars. They were arrested later the same day.
Bagnell will serve twelve years and seven months in federal prison without parole. Smythe has also pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing.
