NODAWAY COUNTY, Mo. — A crash north of Clearmont Sunday morning sent two people to area hospitals with injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was called to Fairway Road just south of Route JJ, about two miles south of Clearmont at about 7:00 a.m. Sunday to reports of a single-vehicle crash.

The accident reportedly occurred as a pick-up truck operated by Ronald E. Cook, 23, of Clearmont, was traveling south of Fairway Road when Cook lost control of his vehicle on the gravel roadway.

The truck then ran off the west side of the road, overturned and partially ejected a passenger, 28-year-old Duane W. Hankins. Neither man in the truck was reportedly wearing a seat belt.

Cook received moderate injuries and was taken to St. Francis Hospital to be treated. Hankins suffered serious injuries when he was ejected and was first taken to Clarinda Regional Medical Center in Clarinda, Iowa before being flown by air ambulance to Nebraska Medicine Hospital in Omaha.
