The Rotary Club of Chillicothe held their Teacher Appreciation dinner this week. President Robin Westphal talked about the importance of this annual event.  “Part of Rotary’s motto is service before self and, when we look at projects we’re going to do, we try to look at things that really incorporate that motto,” said Westphal, “This is a dinner we’ve been having for over 20 years and we really just believe that it’s important to celebrate and recognize our educators because what they do is service above self every day.”

During the ceremony, the Unsung Hero award was presented to Marty Rogers.  “She was nominated because of the fact that she does her job without complaining,” said Westphal, “It’s such a vital job, but it’s unsung or unseen.  It’s not right there at the front desk.  She sits in the back and deals with transcripts and the student information systems.  She handles things that absolutely have to happen at the high school, but that are not always seen front and center.”

Staff at the high school, as well as the Chillicothe Alternative Center for Education, and the Behavior Management Program were honored during the event.

The Rotary Club is in its 94th year of service to the community.
