MARSHALL — Saline County Commissioners yesterday (Thurs) approved an agreement between the county sheriff’s office and the city of Slater to provide law enforcement services.

The $10,000 a month agreement allows three full time deputies working up to 120 hours per week to enforce state laws and city ordinances. The deputies would work out of an office provided by the city. The sheriff’s office would pay for the deputies’ insurance. The agreement will be evaluated on an annual basis. The move was due to an ongoing shortage of police staffing in Slater.
