Press Release from the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center:

Lexington, MO — A new electronic health record system will son be in place at Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center in Lafayette County with the goal of helping to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of health care services provided at the Lexington practice.

“Going from a paper record keeping system to an electronic one, is significant and represents the future trend in health care,” said Hilda Fuentes, CEO of the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center. “We’ve already implemented an electronic health record (EHR) system at both of our Northland practice offices and at Sheffield Place where we serve the health care needs of women and their children in a shelter environment – all with positive results. We’re pleased to announce that our Lafayette County practice will soon follow.”

Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center Lafayette County is located at 811-A South 13 Highway in Lexington, Missouri, and provides primary medical, pediatric, OB/GYN and dental care to adults and seniors, children and adolescents. It opened its doors in 2001 and currently sees 2,450 patients each year. The new EHR system will be implemented for pediatric and family health care services at the practice on May 23rd.

According to Lisa Miller, RHIA, Director of Health Information and Systems Management at the Health Center, recent studies about using EHR systems have demonstrated the potential for health information technology to improve the efficiency of patient visits as well as ensuring the safety and accuracy of patients’ health records. “Our goal is to provide the highest quality medical care available anywhere,” noted Millerd, “and integrating EHR systems is an important next step in the process.”
